Teaching agrobiodiversity: a curriculum guide for higher education

The context for curriculum development in higher agricultural education is
specific to each institution’s internal and external setting, such as its geographical
location, its societal and policy environment and the job market that it serves.
A curriculum guide on agrobiodiversity would thus need to meet very diverse
needs. This Guide, therefore, does not seek to provide a ready-made, full-fledged
syllabus for an agrobiodiversity programme or course. Rather, it presents a
flexible framework: what we believe are essential elements of agrobiodiversity
education, which a university or technical college might want to consider teaching
in its own unique setting. This Guide would be one of several resources used in
curriculum development or review.

New IIED REDD Working Paper

Dear Colleagues
The International Institute for Environment and Development is pleased to announce its latest REDD Working Paper:
Pro-poor benefit distribution in REDD+
Essam, Yassin Mohammed

Ensuring the poor or the most vulnerable sections of society benefit from REDD+ is key to building both national and international legitimacy, and foster successful delivery of conservation and social objectives. Equitable benefit sharing issues at a community or household level are overlooked in both academic and non-academic literature compared to distributional issues at international level. Therefore, this paper aims to look at some of the issues related to benefit distribution at village and household level.
You can also read our blog that highlights the key points in the paper, REDD+ project design: 10 points to consider so the poor don’t lose out.
